After a full day of purchasing materials such as wood, plants, and pipes, the Foresteer team was ready to get into action! In the last couple of days, already existing water pipes have been extended and the first trees have been planted. So far we have planted 12 guava trees, 26 farasha trees, 11 medicinal cactus, 3 mango trees and 2 lemon trees.
More than planting trees
To make us successful in Greening the World, we have to plant trees in the right way. In order to increase the survival rate of our trees, we support them throughout their growth. In each of our projects we invest in training, community building, surveillance and technical assistance.
The Foresteer project in Egypt specifically, entails a lot more than just planting trees. Alongside planting trees, we make sure to create:
- Plant nurseries for seeds and knowledge
- Environmentally friendly cabins: sleep under the stars
- Dedicated spaces for meditation and yoga in nature
- Creative and informative workshops
